Yarn was created by Jade and Will, when they returned from New Zealand (the home of the Kiwi ‘Bar Eatery' that it is modelled on).

In June 2022 they  handed the reins  to Kerry and Simon who, having loved YARN as customers,  were determined to make sure it remained a happy, welcoming, place where everyone would enjoy ‘a good yarn (a.k.a natter, chat, goss, etc.!) with good food and good friends’.

Xav, Yarn’s Head Chef, is from Réunion, a French island near Mauritius.  He loves the Creole cuisine of his homeland, which is a tongue bobbling fusion of French, Chinese, African, Malay, and Indian traditions.  It’s presence can be felt in some of the monthly specials, and more unusual dishes on our menu.

Every month 'The Visitor' is our very special visiting burger.   Xav uses all his experience, expertise, and ingenuity to design, source, create, and serve a burger that pushes the boundaries of the genre to the limit (in truth,  he may sometimes exceed those limits, think steak and fries in a bap with Creole sauce, or monkfish tails with Mac ’n Cheese!).  It could be spicy, it could be sweet.  It could be both (or neither).  It will always be ‘special'!

In a world where so much is so ‘samey’, tom accompany great food we offer an eclectic selection of draught award winning Craft Ales & Lagers from Utopian Brewery (based in Crediton), Hunts draught and bottled Cider (based in nearby Stoke Gabriel), and carefully selected Wines (including organic and vegan) from specialist supplier Ellis Wines (with thanks to Dave!).

So, why not join us for a good yarn, good food and drink, in fact an all round good time, when you're next in Dartmouth!
